Inmarsat launch satellite for broadband services.

Inmarsat has successfully launched their Inmarsat-4 (I-4) satellite that will go into a geosationary orbit above the Indian Ocean covering Europe, Africa, Middle East, Indian subcontinent, Asia Pacific & Western Australia.
The press release claims that this will give users of the service, 3G type connectivity with speeds of 432Kbit/s.
The Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) service is an IP and circuit-switched service that will offer voice telephony and a sophisticated range of high-bandwidth services, including Internet access, videoconferencing & LAN.
A second satellite will be laucnhed later this year to give a total coverage of up to 85% of the world’s land mass.
