I guess this falls under the jurisdiction of "People with too much time on their hands".
I found this link from SmartMobs about a picture of a supposed UFO on Google Maps, but the hilarious comments section that follows here on Google Sightseeing is by far more entertaining than the actual subject.

Talking about the various uses of Google maps, check out http://www.chicagocrime.org/, which uses Google Maps to map out the location of street crimes, based on public information (also from smartmobs)
