Survey says “People want in-flight data not voice”
Well I have to agree with this completely. Why you’d want a loud mouthed behemoth beside you on a four hour plane flight blabbing away moronically while you are trying to catch some zzzzzzz’s is beyond me. Textually.org has this post on a survey that American flyers would rather use their devices for data than voice!
Praise the Maker there is some common sense out there….
My blog is worth $2,064.36!?!?!?
Now this is just plain…… well… interesting I guess. Someone has worked out how to calculate the linkability (ok made that word up) value of a blog versus all the other blogs on it’s database.
So according to this link I’m currently blogshared at $2,064.36.
Oh and to put it in context, Robert Scoble’s blog is currently valued at….$1,127,495.93…. and that’ll go up further now as I’ve added yet another link to his site!
Head over to Blogshares to see what your blog is worth.

Sydney Morning Herald on corporate blogging
Article in the Sydney Morning Herald on coporate blogging with some good quotes by Mick Stanic and some other Australian bloggers. No idea what the picture heading the article is meant to represent, but I sure as hell don’t wear sunglasses when blogging….. oh yeah but then there are bloggers like Cameron Reilly….
They also include Robert Scoble’s "21 things to remember when writing a corporate blog" which of course I don’t have to use as I don’t do corporate bloggin I industry blog! ![]()

Location Based Services – A new twist
So much is NOT happening in the world of Location based services, one would believe it’s fallen into a technology crevice and can’t locate it’s merry way out.
Rosum in the US, seems to have found a rather unique way to skin the proverbial yet again.
Rosum has designed a location based system that utilises digital broadcast TV signals to locate a device.
Now why is this so clever?
Well for starters, TV boradcast signals are a hell of lot more powerful than mobile RF signals. In fact it’s a difference of 1000 Kilo Watts versus 500 Watts. TV signals need to be this powerful so they can penetrate buildings, which is something that mobile systems, even 3G ones, are still having big problems with doing.
This brings about a interesting dynamic with the advent of DVB-H type devices that could assist the mobile LBS market greatly.
Personal Head Mounted Display
Olympus has created a prototype head mountable display (HMD) that is desgined to be worn all the time (only 27 grams in weight) and display information without hindering the vision.
They give an example of train timetables that are projected onto the users glasses.
From a mobile perspective the user should be able to see:
-
Call & alert notifcations
-
Caller ID display
-
Walking/driving directions
No idea on cost & if it supports graphic displays such as pictures & videos though…..
Mobile Phone Throwing Championships!

Monsters & Girls!
I have very fond memories as a young lad watching the ol’ monster flicks and I’ve never understood the true appeal until now….. they were filled with helpless attractive women!
This site has pictures of all the great monster flicks with their one common depraved objective…. to capture beautiful helpless women!
My plans for world domination visualised!
Howard Rheingold over at The Feature sucks. Why? Because he has single handedly visualised a lot of the major topics I blog about on the future of mobility in 1 beautiful graphical image. Bloody brilliant stuff!
Rheingold has contributed an earlier piece on "Mobile & Open – a manifesto" completed in January of this year and now his "Technologies of Cooperation" image that conceptualises how some of these bits fit together summarises it wonderfully.
The major themes of digital identity, digital social networks & using standard Internet technologies instead of inventing new ones for mobile are all there.
I feel like I should do a Luther and nail this on the catherdral doors of senior management…… heck stuff that! I’ll take it and do it in my own company ![]()
