Funny comments on Blog about Google maps.

May 18, 2005

I guess this falls under the jurisdiction of "People with too much time on their hands".

I found this link from SmartMobs about a picture of a supposed UFO on Google Maps, but the hilarious comments section that follows here on Google Sightseeing is by far more entertaining than the actual subject.

…….. oh yeah I had to comment too of course 🙂

3G technology’s human side

May 17, 2005

This is a true story. I know the lady this was sent too here at the carrier I work for here in Australia. This is the second time I’ve seen such a powerful example of the human side of 3G technology.

—————————————

Hi Ella,

This is going to be very hard to put into words but feel it is something that you should know about and how my family and I will be forever grateful that my sister and I both had 3 mobile phones.

We were all called into the hospital on March 17th March 2005 as my father was deteriorating very fast and we were informed that he may not make the night, all our families got in except my eldest sister Susan who lived in Qld and was trying to get a flight down. Dad spoke gently and told us all to go home, we all kissed him and left.

I didn’t receive a phone call during the night (waiting for the bad news) so I rushed back into the hospital and see my dad who was still fighting to breathe but was able to hold my hand and whisper to me – He said that he has said all his goodbyes except to Susan (my sister in Qld), I told him she was trying to get a flight down but I had a feeling that dad wasn’t going to be able to hold on much longer so I video called Susan in Qld and held the phone infront of dads face. My dad opened his eyes and saw Susan waving at him on the phone, they were able to talk/see each other for just a few moments. Dad told her he loved her and she did the same, dad closed his eyes after the call and didn’t open them again – My dad passed away a few hours later, I was holding his hand, March 18th 2005.

Dad was at peace, he had said goodbye to ALL 5 of his daughters and his wife face to face, Video call or in person, it didn’t matter, we all had eye contact and that is all that matters. I cannot describe to you or even find the right words to describe to you the overwhelming blessing that we both had 3 mobiles, this will be with me for the rest of my life and with my oldest sister Susan who got to "SEE" dad before he passed away.

Educating the mobile market

May 12, 2005

Mike Masnick over @ The Feature has nailed the proverbial on the head with his great piece on "Who needs more education? Subscribers or operators?" Of course it is both!

Masnick finishes up with something I’m a big believer on which is the Network Development Platform. Make it open and share the data revenue!

All one has to do is head over to Hong Kong and enter one of the many mobile phone stores and see the amazing difference of a well trained sales person who takes their time to educate the user. I was blown away by the training systems they deploy to show subscribers how to use the higher end functionality of their newly purchased devices.

Corporate Blogging is formulated to work.

May 12, 2005

I’m currently at the Mobile Content World here in Sydney Australia, and someone on stage is trying to sell me something instead of teaching me something so I’m blogging!

Cameron’s blog has a pointer to GapingVoid’s great scientific description on why corporate blogging works. It is even formulated!

The power of information without boundaries

May 9, 2005

Anyone who is using the mobile devices that are currently available will know that we are still not there yet with the ability to access information anywhere, anytime & anyhow.

Mobility means different things to different people, for some it’s a way of life, for others it’s business competitiveness, but for everyone it means freedom. Freedom from constraining systems & archaic social mores.

Information without boundaries is the ability to access information relevant to your mobile status whether private or public, instantly.

The individual should have the systems & services that allow community collaboration within their digital social or business networks to operate seamlessly. They are still slaves to the synchronisation chains that prevent instantaneous access to information wherever it may be located.

It is encouraging to see that are many discussions taking place about ways to ensure this information can be accessed fluidly in the future. One such discussion that you can drop in on is that of electronic document management systems that Uniqueworld Software’s General Manager, Christophe Dumonet, discusses on his blog here.

A blog that podcasts, videoblogs & teaches you how to do it too.

May 4, 2005

Stumbled into this bit of RSS delight within today’s 3Gportal’s feeds discussing 3G podcasting.

Boundary Layer turns out to be an amazing converstation on everything to do with podcasting, blogging & videoblogging, including doing reviews as well. This is a tasty morsel indeed.

The site has some great info on how to create podcasts & videoblogs for 3G devices too.

I shall name this type of site Hydra blogging!
